Knowledge Unit: Developing a range of EYFS CPD Support for Practitioners
Updated: Sep 5
This knowledge unit looks at how you create a range of ‘support interventions’ for practitioners.
I will teach you how to use what you’re already doing to support practitioners and define it into specific support interventions that link to your overall arrangements for CPD…basically, simply ‘polishing’ what you already do to demonstrate its impactfulness!
Once you have a catalogue of support interventions, you can use this as a ‘menu’ – from which you can select the appropriate support to target actions identified in practitioners’ individualised CPD plans.
This knowledge unit will also allow you to download a template individualised CPD plan - to help anchor any gaps or needs in practitioners' professional development, identified in regular supervision, and match them with appropriate support interventions. The plan also enables you to lay out how you will evaluate the impact of the support provided. This knowledge unit will explain how this feeds into the overall systems that you will already have in place, avoiding creating any additional workload.
Before reading this knowledge unit, I highly recommend that you read the unit: The Vital Importance of CPD in the EYFS.
While the Early Years Foundation works hard to provide as much help and support as possible, though the free community membership - we are only able to do this by providing professional membership content for those that pay a very reasonable fee for full access to all highly-valuable EYFS knowledge units (professional membership also includes higher discounts on EYFS training and support). These units are referred to as 'Professional Knowledge Units' – we’ll mark these units clearly as we aim to be fair and transparent at all times.
